The Gorkha’s Story Released

‘The Gorkha’s Story’ - a collection of 40 narrative poems by Prayash Gupta was released by Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) dean Brig. Dr. Vijay Kumar Mehta at the seminar hall of SMIMS today. The event also had the presence of Sikkim Manipal University registrar Prof. Karma Sonam Sherpa, Sikkim University’s English Department head Dr. Rosy Chamling and Prof. Irshad Ghulam Ahmed as the guests of honour, faculty and students of SMU Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prayash Gupta expressed that the book accentuates the aspiration, endeavour and the dream of the Indian Gorkhas.
The dean congratulated Gupta and expressed that the day was a matter of pride for SMU. He recalled his days in the army and expressed that the Gorkhas are one of the most respected people in the army fraternity. He wished him luck in his future endeavours.
Prof. Ahmed and Dr. Chamling reviewed the book.
Prayash Gupta, 29, is an author, columnist, lyricist and singer. He was born and brought up in Darjeeling. His publication includes ‘Ishwar Pick up the All’ (2017) and ‘Poetry Pilgrimage’ (2014).He is currently working as an assistant professor at Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, SMU. Prayash’s biographical note has been included in ‘Asia Pacific Who’s Who’ (Vol XV) 2016, ‘Famous India: Who’s Who, 2016, ‘Learned India: Nation Who’s Who’ 2017 and ‘Famous India: Nation Who’s Who’ 2018. He has been awarded ‘Best Indian Golden Personalities Award’ 2017 by Friendship Forum, New Delhi and ‘Global Teacher Award’ 2018 by AKS Education Award, New Delhi.
