Department of ENT
Overview
The Department of ENT and HNS was established in the year 1999. The Department provides a state of the art ENT Service and is equipped with the entire range of diagnostic and therapeutic equipments including Micro debrider and Harmonic Knife. All routine ENT surgeries like Tympanoplasty, Mastoidectomy, Stapedotomy, FESS, Rhinoplasty, Micro laryngeal Surgery, Phono surgery, Septoplasty, anterior skull base surgery head and neck surgery are performed.
The Rehabilitation Unit of Audiology and Speech Therapy functions with the clinical department to provide supportive diagnostic and rehabilitative services for the Hearing Impairment, Speech problems and post-laryngectomy speech disabled.

- Dr Mohonish N Chettri is a Professor of Ear Nose Throat (Otolaryngology ) Head & Neck Surgery in Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences.
- He is also a practicing Ear Nose and Throat Specialist and Head & Neck Surgeon attached with the teaching Central Referral Hospital.
- Major Academic Role includes taking Theory, Clinical and Practical Classes of the department for MBBS Students. He is also a Post Graduate Teacher for Master of Surgery (Otolaryngology) of Sikkim Manipal University and trains Residents in the department for award of degree of MS.
- Clinical role includes examining diagnosing and treating patients presenting to the Department of ENT Head and Neck Surgery, Central Referral Hospital and running Out Patient Clinic (Every Wednesday) and Special Clinics (Head & Neck Rhinology Vertigo Otology ) as per schedule. MS Resident trainings in surgical procedures in Major and Minor OT, Temporal Bone Lab Dissection and Cadaveric F E S S Lab are other designated academic roles.
