BRIEF DESCRIPTION

Date: March 10, 2025
Venue: Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT)
Organized by: Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), SMIT, E-Cell, and Department of Management Studies

On March 10, 2025, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) celebrated International Women's Day with a special event organized by the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), the E-Cell, and in collaboration with the Department of Management Studies. The occasion highlighted the achievements and contributions of women in the Institute and beyond.

The focal point of the event was the felicitation of 15 long-serving female employees who have dedicated over 20 years of service to SMIT. These distinguished individuals were honoured for their invaluable contributions and felicitated by the Director of SMIT, Prof. G L Sharma, the Head of the Institution’s Innovation Council, Dr. Bikash Sharma, and the Head of the Department of Management Studies, Dr. Bibeth Sharma.

In addition to the felicitation, the event also featured a photography competition that displayed compelling images of women at various stages of their life, capturing their essence, resilience, and beauty. The competition was well-received, showcasing the creative talents of students while celebrating the diverse roles women play in society.

Furthermore, five stalls were set up by female students, offering a platform to exhibit their entrepreneurial skills. These stalls provided an opportunity for students to display their business ventures, reinforcing the importance of women’s empowerment in the field of entrepreneurship.

The event was a grand success, leaving a lasting impression on all who attended. It not only celebrated the women of SMIT but also inspired all attendees to continue advocating for gender equality, empowerment, and the recognition of women’s invaluable contributions in all walks of life.
