ABOUT CENTRAL LIBRARY

The Central Library of SMIT was established along with the establishment of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology in 1997 in order to meet the academic and research needs of the Teachers, Research Scholars and the Students.

The SMIT Library provides books, journals as well as current information on various topics to fulfill the need of the SMIT communities. Since inception of the SMIT, the library has been serving the various components of the SMIT community viz. teachers, research scholars, students, officers and staff towards the fulfillment of their objectives.The Institute Library is the only library in Majitar, Rangpo region, which facilitates research and higher learning by providing books, journals and other documents to the teachers, research scholars and students.

The Library is a two storied building with 2960 sq m carpet area. The total seating capacity of Library is 428 users at a time. SMIT Library has built up a rich collection on all branches of Engineering, Science and Management.

• Central Library is a member of DELNET and National Digital Library for online access of e-journals and e-books.
• Library LAN has become a part of campus wide Network, which has made it possible for the academic community of various departments to access information.
