Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) is proud to host the one-week Faculty Development Program (FDP) jointly organised by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India.

Purpose

To enable educators and incubation managers to mentor and support student and faculty innovation projects and startup ideas as Innovation Educators/Mentors, while introducing them to essential ideas, resources, and philosophies required for guiding student entrepreneurs. This FDP is specially designed to encourage innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem and mindset in higher education institute through educators engaged in Teaching BBA/BCA/BMS students from HEIs offering BBA/BCA/BMS courses with an interest in fostering innovation and entrepreneurship on campus.

Who can participate?

  • Faculty actively engaged as Innovation Ambassadors or leading Institution Innovation Councils (IICs), IEDCs, E-Cells, Entrepreneurship Clubs, or similar initiatives.
  • Preference for those who have mentored students for competitions (e.g., hackathons, Smart India Hackathon) or entrepreneurial ventures.
  • Individuals involved in managing innovation-related activities within an Incubation Centre.
  • Faculty with expertise in innovation-centric fields such as product design, business strategy, technology development, Intellectual Property (IP), and technology transfer.
  • Faculty engaged in product development or project execution, either externally or internally funded.

FAQs

The purpose is to enable educators and incubation managers to mentor and support student and faculty innovations and startup ideas, introducing them to essential ideas, resources, and philosophies required for guiding student entrepreneurs.

The Faculty Development Program will be for 5 days.

The FDP will be conducted in offline mode only.

The sessions will be from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Eligible participants include:

  • Faculty actively engaged as Innovation Ambassadors or leading Institution Innovation Councils (IICs), IEDCs, E-Cells, Entrepreneurship Clubs, or similar initiatives
  • Faculty who have mentored students for competitions like hackathons or entrepreneurial ventures
  • Individuals managing innovation-related activities within an Incubation Centre
  • Faculty with expertise in innovation-centric fields such as product design, business strategy, technology development, Intellectual Property (IP), and technology transfer
  • Faculty engaged in product development or project execution, either externally or internally funded.

A maximum of two participants are allowed from each institution.

  • The last date for registration is 15 July 2025.
  • The final selection of participants will be communicated on or before 16 July 2025.

Yes, attendance is mandatory for all the sessions to receive the participation certificate.

Yes, you are required to upload an authorization letter from your institute at the time of registration.

Limited number of rooms are available for participants in the hostel inside the campus on a nominal rate. For other participants, if accommodation is required, details of nearby facilities will be provided.

Yes, a total travel allowance of Rs. 1000/- will be provided to participants who attend sessions on all the five days.

Yes, participants will be provided with food and refreshments.

Two certificates will be provided:

  • A participation certificate upon successful completion of the 5-day offline FDP with full attendance.
  • An FDP completion certificate after conducting an evangelization program on your campus as per the instructions provided during the FDP and submitting the required details.

Yes. After the completion of the FDP, an evangelization program must be conducted on your campus as per the instructions provided during the FDP. You will also be required to submit the required details of the program
