Overview

As the age-old saying goes, a healthy mind resides in a healthy body. Likewise understanding the importance of co-curricular activities, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences (SMIMS) offers innumerable sports opportunities to every student. Despite being a hilly region with difficult to get a big piece of the plane to land for field games, cricket and soccer are played in an improvised format with a ‘Cosco’ ball on the concrete surface. Moreover, there is 2 practice cricket pitch under construction to encourage young talents of SMIMS. There is also SMIMS Cricket Club who participates in State Level Cricket Competitions. by organizing various inter-college and zonal sports events.

The College boasts of different sports facilities in the campus itself like a badminton court, basketball court, and table tennis court along with grounds for outdoor sports like throwball, volleyball, basketball, kabaddi, kho – kho. Annual Inter-batch competitive sports events are organised and the winner and runner-up teams do get a chance to participate in various inter-college and state-level competitions regularly.

‘Kaalrav’ an annual inter-college competitive event organized by SMIT includes all the above-mentioned sports activities

Every year we develop a cricket team to participate in the annual tournament of the Sikkim Cricket Association

Every year our players participate and do exceedingly well in state-level annual badminton sports

‘Athlima’ is an annual inter-college sports competitive event organised by SMIT

Our students also participated in ‘First Late Alexius Memorial Table Tennis Championship’ a inter-college table tennis competition organised by Sikkim Table Tennis Club
