The Department of Ophthalmology, established in 1999, has been a fully functional unit in the Central Referral Hospital (CRH) and has been consistently doing exemplary work in patient care, both directly in the hospital as well as in outreach camps across the state of Sikkim.

The Department of Ophthalmology provides undergraduate training in Ophthalmology according to the new competency based medical education curriculum mandated by the National Medical Commission.

The department has a team of Ophthalmologists with Consultants as well as Resident Doctors, optometrists, technicians, and staff nurses (OT trained).
