The Department of Hospital Administration was established in the year 2008.It is a con- stituent unit of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Medical Sciences(SMIMS), Sikkim Manipal Uni- versity.

The students are posted to various departments of the hospital throughout the course to understand the structure and function of the various departments in that way they are expected to present the gap analysis of each department.
To expose the students to the realistic problems of the hospital, they will be posted as trainee Manager on duty. Hence, they oversee day-to-day operations, organize departments, and manage infrastructure and staff, As the MOD, students manage the problems related to patients, staff or any- thing related to management of the hospital that come up while performing their assigned duties.
Students are encouraged to actively participate/assist the audit teams in conduction of various audits in the hospital. They also partici- pate in the various Disaster Mock drills of the Hospital.
