ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) is a constituent college of Sikkim Manipal University (SMU), under the state legislation act of 1995 and approved by UGC. Established in 1997, SMIT is part of the renowned Manipal Group that has made its mark in the field of education and health services in India and abroad. SMIT is accredited by AICTE and NAAC. It is also ISO 9001 certified. SMIT is one of India's premier technology and management institutes. SMIT ranked 2nd top private engineering colleges (East Zone) by India Today. The campus is home to over 3000 students, about 260 faculty and staff members. The institute is reputed for its state-of-the-art infrastructure, well stocked library, and advanced technology laboratories. The departments of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology have recently been accredited by NBA for a period of 3 years. There are numerous sponsored research projects funded by various agencies like DOE, ISRO, DST, DBT, DRDO, AICTE, etc. The institute also hosts Atal Incubation Centre supported by NITI Aayog. ABOUT THE CENTRE FOR FACULTY & STAFF DEVELOPMENT
The Centre for Faculty & Staff Development, SMIT was established in the year 2017 with the objective to provide and facilitate various technical, social, academic, ethical, and administrative trainings to the in-house and external faculty & staff members.
The Centre has successfully organized various training programs conducted by AICTE & ATAL. In addition, the center has also conducted STTP, webinars, workshops and FDP programs on recent trends of technology to train the faculty members, enhance teaching-learning process and stay aligned with the current industry requirements.
ABOUT THE FDP
The course provides a gentle introduction to the MATLAB computing environment and is intended for beginning users and those looking for a review. It is designed to give faculty, staff members and research scholars a basic understanding of MATLAB, including popular toolboxes. The course consists of interactive lectures and sample MATLAB problems that generally they face. Hands-on session helps participants with the syntaxes and functions for use in programming. Concepts covered include basic use, graphical representations, and tips for designing and implementing MATLAB code. It will provide a brief introduction to the application of the MATLAB for application in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
