BTECH COURSE AT SIKKIM MANIPAL INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) / Non-Resident Indians (NRI)/Foreign Nationals/ Indian Workers in Gulf Countries: Candidates seeking admission under this category should be:
Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Children of Indian Workers in the Gulf Countries. Admission under this category will be given after screening conducted by SMU. Foreign candidates need to obtain registration certificate or No Objection Certificate from Foreigner Registration Office located at Gangtok, India for admission.

If the candidate himself/herself is not an NRI, then he/she may be sponsored by his/her father, mother, brother, sister, uncle or aunt, grandparent who must be an NRI. Eligibility under this category is mentioned below.

ELIGIBILITY

(a) Candidates must have passed (10+2) or equivalent with Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry or Computer Sciences or Biotechnology or Biology, as one of the optional subjects. They must have secured a minimum of 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC) marks in aggregate in these subjects to be considered for selection.
Candidate with a diploma in the appropriate branch of engineering awarded by a State Board of Technical Education, and with at least 50% (45% for SC/ST/OBC) in aggregate in diploma is also eligible for admission to the first year of B Tech.

Candidate qualifying from foreign Universities are required to submit the equivalent grading/percentage of marks from AIU (Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi).

Documents required to be submitted with application form (under this category) are as under :

Proof of NRI status in case candidate is NRI (Scanned copy of Passport only).
Sponsorship by NRI if sponsored, with scanned copy of passport of the sponsor in format at Annexure III.
Proof of residence of NRI/sponsor.
Application by candidate in plain paper/printed application form either downloaded from our website or as available with the prospectus.
Copy of marks sheet of qualifying examination.
For candidates qualifying from foreign Schools/Universities/Institutions, equivalence certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
A demand draft for a sum of Rs. 1,500 in favour of “Sikkim Manipal University”, payable at “Gangtok”.

Candidates are required to apply separately and admission will be given after screening conducted by SMU. The date of screening will be intimated after receipt of applications. If the candidate himself/herself is not an NRI, then he/she may be sponsored by his/her father, mother, brother, sister, uncle or aunt, grandparent. For the purpose of percentage of marks in the qualifying examination candidates qualifying from Foreign Universities are required to submit the equivalent grading/percentage of marks from AIU (Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi), address of which is given subsequently.
