Institution's Innovation Council, E-Cell, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) successfully conducted the preliminary round of the Internal Hackathon for Smart India Hackathon-2023 (SIH) on 26th Sep. 2023. The teams are addressing the live problems of various Ministries, Departments and State Governments as floated by Ministry of Education, GoI. 13 teams were shortlisted out of the 19 registered teams.
SIH is a unique National Hackathon organised by Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), AICTE to identify innovative concepts and technology solutions for addressing live challenges.
The event was graced by the presence of Prof. Tejbanta Singh Chingtam, CEO, AIC-SMUTBI as the Guest of Honour who motivated the participants to come up with excellent innovations. HoDs, faculty members and students attended the event with great enthusiasm. In his inaugural address Dr. Bikash Sharma, Head E-Cell highlighted the significance of SIH and the initiatives taken by Govt. of India to encourage innovation, start-up and entrepreneurships at schools and colleges. Prof. U.K. Chakraborty, HoD CSE, SMIT and member of the E-Cell mentioned the need for such activities in his address.
The ideas were evaluated by a panel of 6 judges comprising of Dr. Om Prakash Singh, HoD AI&DS, Dr. Sandeep Gurung, Mr. Kiran Gautam and Ms. Tanuja Subba from the CSE Dept., Dr. Palash Ghosal, IT Dept. and Mr. Arun Kumar Singh, T&P Officer from SMIT. The judges also provided their valuable feedback and guidance to the participating teams.
