Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi interacted with the Vice Chancellors, Principals, Faculty and Students at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi during the 'G20 University Connect Finale' on 26th Sep. 2023. The event was broadcasted through a webcast by the Ministry of Education, GoI. Complying to the same SMIT also attended the session in online mode. The event had Prof. (Dr.) G.L. Sharma, Director, SMIT, Prof. Kalpana Sharma, Associate Director (R&D), Prof. N.K. Bhattacharya, Associate Director (SA), HoDs, Faculty members and more than 550 students. The webcast was organised in Marena (Sports Complex), SMIT and was coordinated by Prof. Pankaj Chettri, Addl. Registrar, SMIT.
The address by Hon'ble Prime Minister was preceded by a panel discussion. Dr. S. Jaishankar, Hon'ble Minister for External Affairs, GoI and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon'ble Minister of Education, GoI also addressed the audience.
Hon'ble Prime Minister in his interaction with the VCs, Principals, Faculty and Students mentioned about the "G20 Jan Bhagidari movement that saw a record participation of more than 5 crore youth from different schools, higher education institutions and skill development institutes from across the country. The G20 University Connect initiative was undertaken with an aim to build the understanding of India's G20 Presidency among India's youth and enhance their participation in the different G20 events. The programme engaged over 1 lakh students from universities across India. Initially planned for 75 universities to commemorate India's 75 years of independence, the initiative eventually expanded its reach to 101 universities across India. (Source: PIB)"
