National Engineers' Day is celebrated in India on September 15 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. He was not only a renowned Indian engineer but also a statesman who left an indelible mark on the field of engineering.
On this occasion, BookHouse Society, the book club of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, organized an Engineer's Day celebration event on 15th September 2023 from 5:15pm. The event aimed to celebrate the achievements and contributions of engineers in various fields and to foster a culture of reading and writing among the engineering students.
The event consisted of two competitions: a story writing competition and a quiz competition. The story writing competition required the participants to write a short story based on a given prompt related to engineering. The stories were judged on the basis of creativity, originality, relevance, grammar and style. The quiz competition tested the participants' knowledge of engineering facts, history, inventions and personalities. The quiz had multiple choice questions with varying levels of difficulty. The winners of both the competitions were announced on the social media of the club.
The event was a success and received positive feedback from the participants and the organizers. The BookHouse Society thanked everyone for their participation and support and expressed their hope to conduct more such events in the future.
