The meet brought together esteemed guests, renowned faculty and Industry leaders to discuss the imperative need for bridging the gap between academia and the rapidly evolving industry, particularly in the digital space. The event started with the Presidential speech by the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, SMU (Sikkim Manipal University), Air Vice Marshal Dr. Dilip Chandra Agarwal, VSM, who stressed the importance of adaptability and lifelong learning in a digital world, followed by the Director speech.
A panel discussion, with the theme "Digital by Default", moderated by the HoD of the CSE Department, Prof. Udit Kumar Chakraborty.
The panel members included CEO AIC SMUTBI, The Director of SMIT and various Industry Experts and Professors. The discussion highlighted the need for students to cultivate a strong foundation in technology fundamentals The event featured prominent addresses, keynote speakers and representatives of various companies such as Palo Alto, Dell, JLL, Deloitte, Lupin, TATA Technologies, Torrent, GE, Union Bank, Wai Wai, etc. One of the keynote speakers included an industry expert, Ms. Zarna Trivedi, Head of HR at Versa Networks, delivered a keynote speech that emphasized bridging the gap between industry demands and academic offerings. She stressed the importance of updated curricula, industry collaborations, and resilience-building for students. Mr. Shubham Tripathi, Global HR Lead Talent Hiring at ATOS, virtually spoke about the importance of technology adaptation and staying relevant in a rapidly changing digital landscape.
The event was concluded by a cultural night, followed by a token of appreciation delivered by Mr. Avishek Suklabaidya. The Industry Academia Meet 2023 at SMIT marked a significant step towards aligning academia with the demands of the digital era.
