This event is organized by Young Mathematical and Technology Scholoars (YMTS) club, department of Mathematics, SMIT with an emphasis on self-thinking and self modelling of various puzzles. This is the first ever event where 7 puzzles are kept open for solving in front of all SMIT students from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm following the valedictory and prize distribution ceremony. Prof. Archit Yajnik (pioneer of YMTS) has introduced the inception of YMTS and its activities during the inaugural ceremony from 9:30 am to 10:00 am. He told that this event is made by the students and made for the students. They may visit different counters of the puzzles as per their convenience. Those who compete the puzzle in the shortest time is the winner of the puzzle. Total of 175 students /staff have participated out of which 7 students who have completed the puzzle in the shortest time have been awarded prizes.
There are four faculty members in the club namely Dr. Avijit Panja, Dr. P. Dhar, Mr. Satyajit Sarkar and Dr. Archit Yajnik. They are the in charge of various puzzles. Mr. Anil Chettri, student of M.Sc (Mathematics) , is the student coordinator for the event. Out of 7 puzzles 4 are based on logical reasoning and computer fundamental, 2 are based on Electrical Engineering whereas 1 is based on Mechanical Engineering and the additional one is for the exhibition.
Title of the puzzles are as follows:
Prof Anjan Raychaudhuri, Head of Mathematics department and Prof. A. P. Tiwari, Associate Director, Students Affairs have given away the prizes to the winners during the prize distribution.
