WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2023 | SMCON

The World Environment Day is an annual celebration which takes place simultaneously around the world on June 5th every year. The theme for 2023 is "#BEAT PLASTIC POLLUTION, ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION". It is celebrated to mark the importance of nature and the environment, and it also gives a message to the global population that nature should not be undervalued, and it should not be taken for granted at any costs. Moreover, it is essential to advocate for a greener environment and conservation of nature. It is quite simple as when we conserve the nature today, the future generation will be able to lead a healthier life.

The executive committee members of student's council, SMCON organised a plantation drive for World Environment Day 2023 on 5th June 2023. It was held behind the Students' Nursing hostel. Dr Muralidhar V. Pai, Dean SMIMS, Dr Karma Sonam Sherpa, Registrar, SMU, Prof. Champa Sharma, Principal, SMCON, Prof. Binita Khati, Student's Co-ordinator, SMCON along with the faculty members of SMCON graced the occasion. All the dignitaries along with the students planted different types of plants. Dean, SMIMS encouraged participants to be environmentally friendly, giving highlights on the importance of the World Environment Day Celebration and the need for holistic thinking while relating with the environment. Principal, SMCON also added that we need to keep our surroundings clean and suggested to water the plants regularly that was planted. The programme was concluded with vote of thanks and distribution of the light refreshment.
