SMIT signs MoU with iHUB, DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee
SMIT (Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology) and iHUB Divya Sampark, a joint initiative of DST (Department of Science and Technology) Govt. of India and IIT Roorkee, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on May 27, 2023. The signing ceremony took place at SMIT, marking a formal agreement between the two institutions.
The primary objective of the MoU is to establish a collaborative framework for organizing events and facilitating networking opportunities. The focus of this collaboration will be on exploring innovative projects and partnerships related to "Cyber Physical Systems (CPS)." Additionally, the emphasis will be on promoting entrepreneurship development and providing training in the field of Cyber-Physical Systems and other emerging technologies.
The MoU was signed by Prof. G L Sharma, the Director of SMIT, and Mr. Manish Anand, the CEO of iHUB DivyaSampark, IIT Roorkee. The exchange of the MoU took place between Ms. Rajani Kushwaha, Scientific Officer of DST & NM-ICPS Mission, GoI, and the Director of SMIT. Representing iHUB DivyaSampark were Ms. Ishita Mongia (HR) and Ms. Lalita Kala Bharti (Programs). Following the signing, a meeting was held, chaired by the Director of SMIT, with the iHUB team from DST, as well as the Associate Directors and Heads of Departments of CSE (Computer Science and Engineering), IT (Information Technology), CA (Computer Applications), and members of the Entrepreneurship-Cell (E-Cell) at SMIT. The participants discussed the details of the collaboration during the meeting.
Dr. Bikash Sharma, Head of E-Cell at SMIT, expressed that the MoU would enable the identification of high-quality CPS-related patents, projects, and publications developed by the students and faculty members of SMIT. These findings can then be transformed into real-world solutions that address societal needs. Moreover, the collaboration aims to foster long-term strategic relationships that contribute to activating the overall innovation ecosystem. The partnership will identify industry-relevant problems and provide support to SMIT students and faculty members in terms of innovation, entrepreneurship, and training in the domain of Cyber Physical Systems.
Following the meeting, the iHUB DivyaSampark team interacted with faculty members and visited various labs and facilities at SMIT, gaining insights into the institute's research and academic capabilities.
